when i try to install /sdcard/update.zip it says it cannot mount the SD card. What am i doing wrong?

  • chrisnowey8:

u made my processes on my phone stop working after your instructions dick now everytime i turn on the phone it says no bat. no sig. and that android processes need to force close!

  • landau93:

@LuigiAkAfido yes i believe you can update even though your are rooted, but the update will cause you to lose your root. the forum that i was mentioning allows you to root any firmware update all the way up to FRG83D so yeah you can just root easily again without a problem. hope i helped

  • LuigiAkAfido:

@landau93 i already rooted it i have the frg22d model. i dont know how to unroot it, because theres a system update… can i update it eventhough its rooted?

  • landau93:

@LuigiAkAfido wont let me copy the link but go to google and type “Rooting the Droid without rsd lite up to and including FRG83D ” it should be the first one from android forums

  • landau93:

@LuigiAkAfido if you were really interested in rooting im sure youve figured it out on your own by now since this post was from 3 months ago but if not heres how i rooted my moto droid running 2.2.1 build number FRG83D

  • landau93:

ive just figured out how to root today and im now interested in getting themes. the one you have in this video really grabs my attention. how could i get the same one?

  • LuigiAkAfido:

how can i root my moto droid ? it has 2.2 firmware

  • RWC26:

@laayre yes but if you *backup* all your apps onto the SD card (which you don’t need 2.2 to do) you can just go through the backed up app list and re install them from there.

  • RWC26:

@fukyou85 dont even bother going to 2.1. just use a custom ROM that uses 2.1. Trust me. i was rooted on 2.0.1 and then i tried to go to 2.1 and i had to eventualy do a factory reset cause it got stuck at the red eye. so now im in 2.1 and all these crazy ways trying to get root is such a hassel. 2.0.1 is the easiest to go to root to unroot. stay with it.

  • fukyou85:

where can i find the 2.1 firmware? I’m on 2.0.1 rooted and cant find the 2.1 firmware. when i hit system update it says system is up to date

  • TechTalkTips:

@laayre nothing on the sd card is touched but since your apps are stored on the internal memory (unless your running 2.2 ) they will be deleted but no worry s all you can re download all your paid apps for free

  • laayre:

Does this remove any apps or personal info from your Droid or SD card?

  • RamAirTA98:

    @mlgneo It should be 69.0MB

  • mikebobbyboy:

@mlgneo try when changing name of file, just type “update” not “update.zip”

  • MastaOllieG:

Great video, thanks A LOT man. Keep up the good work in informing the less tech savvy in how to root.

  • TheOnehappyrobot:

@migneo youre screwed and your phone bricked

  • wowhackings:

HEY guys just check out OpenCracks(dot) com. Ive created a tutorial at the bottom of my page for rooting 2.1 moto droids, also a new forum needing moderators. please come check it out.

  • mlgneo:

    “sdcard/update.zip (bad) instillation aborted”

im pretty sure the .zip is bad or something.. can you please post a mirror? the update.zip file (im 110% positive that i did not make the double .zip mistake) is 39.9mb. cant read the transfer on the video but your update.zip didnt look like it said 39.9.

now im stuck in factory default and i’ve tried almost everything to get update.zip installed. :( please help..

  • unclejo3:

@unclejo3 make sure its not .zip.zip my bad

  • unclejo3:

when you rename the file rename it to update.zip then right click goto properties then details and make sure its now .zip.zip…… that was my problem

  • skatefan1515:

@bleek1760 you probably named it update.zip.zip by accident. make sure it is named only update.zip

  • bleek1760:

my phone says update aborted what do i do now

  • kyte8:

I can’t find that file on the website, where am I missing it?

  • Zalyia38:

This was great, worked perfect! Thanks again for another great video.
