Learn Guitar App: Over 50k downloads! mhlo.co www.mahalo.com www.mahalo.com An autopsy was planned for Monday, August 16, 2010, on the body of Phillip Markoff, accused of being the so-called “Craigslist Killer.” ABC News reports that Markoff, a former Boston University medical student, was found dead of an apparent suicide in his cell at the Nashua Street Jail on August 15, 2010. A statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said “all evidence indicated that he took his own life.” The 24-year-old Markoff was jailed and awaiting trial after being charged in the April 2009 attempted robbery and shooting death of model Julissa Brisman at the Copley Marriott Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. According to CNN, Markoff may have met Brisman through the online networking website Craigslist. Brisman had advertised her services as a masseuse on Craigslist before her murder. Phil Markoff was also charged in the April 2009 robbery of another woman, Trisha Leffler, in a Boston hotel. CNN quotes police reports as saying Leffler “was held at gunpoint and bound” while she was robbed. He is suspected in a third attempted robbery on a woman at a hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island. Both victims, like Brisman, had posted advertisements for their services on Craigslist. At the time of his arrest, Phillip Markoff was engaged to be married to his fiance, Megan McAllister. But did you know that there is a specific term for people afraid of Friday the 13th?According to CBS News, psychologists call it “friggatriskaidekaphobia.” For some in Western culture, Friday the 13th is a sort of “pseudo-holiday” – a day to hide out for fear of something bad happening. According to National Geographic News, superstitions surrounding Friday the 13th actually date back to ancient times. Folklore historian Donald Dossey says superstitions and concerns surrounding Friday are twofold. In Norse mythology, having more than 12 gods at a dinner party was considered bad luck. There are also Biblical references to the number 13. The apostle Judas was said to be the 13th guest at the Last Supper, and Judas went on to betray Jesus. Some Christians associate Friday with bad luck because it marks the day that Jesus was crucified. Superstitions surrounding Friday the 13th have given way to pop culture, as well. The popular ”Friday the 13th” horror movie series began back in 1980. The Kardashian’s DASH Boutique offers a variety of high-end designer items, including clothing, shoes and accessories. Some of the notable brands carried by DASH include Alice & Olivia, La Rok and Whitney Eve – the designer clothing line by ”The City” star Whitney Port. The eggs are being recalled by the Wright County Egg farm in Galt, Iowa. The Associated Press reports that the eggs included in the Wright County recall “were linked to several illnesses in Colorado, California and Minnesota.” The AP quotes state health officials as saying that “tainted eggs have sickened at least 266 Californians and seven in Minnesota.” All total, there are a total of 13 brands included in the recall. Eggs packaged under the following brands are affected: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps. Carton sizes will vary from 6-egg cartons up to 18-egg cartons. The eggs affected by the recall were packaged between May 16 and August 13, 2010. If you aren’t sure whether eggs you have are included in the recall, check the dates and codes on the end of the egg carton. Eggs under the recall will be stamped with the following codes: P-1026 P-1413 P-1946 Health officials say the eggs included in the recall should not be eaten. ABC News reported that the Oscar-winning actor would undergo throat cancer treatment after doctors discovered the tumor in his throat. Treatment will include eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. A spokesperson for the 65-year-old actor told ”People” that Douglas’ doctors “expect him to make a full recovery.” Douglas himself issued a brief statement to ”People,” saying “I am very optimistic.” Additional details on Douglas’ treatment were not immediately available. Douglas’ publicist, Allen Burry, told the Associated Press that his client is “outside the United States.” Burry would not reveal where Douglas would undergo treatment for the tumor. Douglas, who is married to Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, is set to begin promoting his newest film, the highly anticipated ”Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” which will be released in US theaters on September 24, 2010. ABC News says it is “unclear whether his treatment will affect the promotion” of the movie, a follow-up to 1987′s ”Wall Street.” Douglas’ role as corporate raider Gordon Gekko in the original Wall Street won him a Best Actor Oscar.
