ZL Podcast #20 – Optimus Gingerbread Phones, Unlimited YouTube Uploads, iPad 2 Cameras…
It’s Saturday again which means it’s time for the next episode of the ZL Podcast, this episode is our 20th. It covers tons of tech news just like always. This episode covers that four sources are saying the iPad 2 will have dual cameras for FaceTime which does seem really likely since there were rumors the first iPad was going to get cameras. LG posted a Facebook status update saying their Optimus line of Android phones running Android 2.2 Froyo were not going to get 2.3 Gingerbread because they did not meet the speed requirement. An Android developer said there was no speed requirement so LG then updated their status saying the Optimus phones are going to get Gingerbread. Some parts of Samsung are saying their Galaxy S phones are getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and other parts are not saying it will happen. That’s kind of weird since the Nexus S is pretty much a Galaxy S so Samsung should really have no problem getting Gingerbread on the Galaxy S phones. YouTube now is allowing people to upload videos over 15 minutes long as long as they are complying with the community guidelines. This is a great thing for people like me who really upload a lot to YouTube. And finally VGA will be discontinued on all the top PC manufacturers by 2015, AMD is starting this in 2013 though… Show notes: go.zlstudios.net Images: engadget.com Music gtmurl.com

Google Nexus S Hands-on
With less than a year under its belt, the Google Nexus One has enabled itself to continue being relevant in the mobile landscape while other top notched devices have been announced and released. Even though many devices emulated its high end specifications, the Nexus One undoubtedly became the choice of handset for developers seeing that it quickly received the latest and greatest Android updates. However, it appears that the torch is being passed on as Samsung received the prestigious opportunity of being the manufacturer of choice to build the second ever Google branded device. And instead of following the sales model employed with the Nexus One, the Google Nexus S trudges an alternate path as the device is being sold through Best Buy Stores across the country. Some of its features include a 4″ Super AMOLED display with WVGA resolution, 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor, 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, 16GB of internal storage, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, NFC support, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. www.phonearena.com
T-Mobile Possibly Bringing Back SideKick
I know there is quite a few of you who are or still are fans of the used to be ever so popular sidekick. Well according to sources T-Mobile might be coming back with a new and improved sidekick that is 4g capable. It would run android 2.2. and it looks like they have a forward facing camera as well so that’s definitely an upgrade. It could be a downfall that Samsung is behind all of this only because we’ve seen how long it takes their devices to get Android updates so who knows when the 2.2 sidekick would get a 2.3 update.

Motorola DROID 2 vs. Motorola DROID
PhoneArena presents a thorough video comparison of the Motorola DROID 2 and Motorola DROID. Just a little over 9 months ago, the industry was shaken up with the advent of the Motorola DROID which threw Android into new horizons as being a force that shouldn’t be disregarded. Backed by a fantastic advertising campaign with Verizon, the handset was able to showcase all of the things possible with DROID DOES, while at the same time, being able to attract customers and command a whole new movement. Since there are probably many people still holding dearly to a Motorola DROID, especially when it’s being treated to some of the latest Android updates, some are probably torn with the feeling of possibly moving up to its successor — the Motorola DROID 2 … For more details, check out our full review: www.phonearena.com
