ABC News reported that the Oscar-winning actor would undergo throat cancer treatment after doctors discovered the tumor in his throat. Treatment will include eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. A spokesperson for the 65-year-old actor told ”People” that Douglas’ doctors “expect him to make a full recovery.” Douglas himself issued a brief statement to ”People,” saying “I am very optimistic.” Additional details on Douglas’ treatment were not immediately available. Douglas’ publicist, Allen Burry, told the Associated Press that his client is “outside the United States.” Burry would not reveal where Douglas would undergo treatment for the tumor. Douglas, who is married to Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, is set to begin promoting his newest film, the highly anticipated ”Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” which will be released in US theaters on September 24, 2010. ABC News says it is “unclear whether his treatment will affect the promotion” of the movie, a follow-up to 1987′s ”Wall Street.” Douglas’ role as corporate raider Gordon Gekko in the original Wall Street won him a Best Actor Oscar.
